Sponsored/Guest AKO Account

 General Information

  • All students/trainees participating in training here must have an Army Knowledge Online (AKO) account.  An AKO account is required to complete Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Department of Defense (DoD) Cyber Awareness Challenge Training.
  • It is the responsibility of the department/service that you will be rotating with to sponsor you for an AKO account if you do not have an AKO account.
  • If you previously had an AKO account, contact the AKO Help Desk at 1-866-335-2769, select option 3, and then select option 3 again to see if your account is still active or inactive.
  • If your account is inactive, provide the AKO Help Desk with your new sponsor information so that your account can be reactivated and moved to your new sponsor. 

Instructions

  • Go to www.us.army.mil/
  • Click the "I Accept" button.  You will be redirected to the EAMS-A (Enterprise Access Management Service-Army) page.
  • Then click "Create Account."
  • Enter your Social Security Number (SSN) and click "Next" button.
  • Select an account type by highlighting the radio button next to it.  Once selected click the "Next" button.
    • Army Volunteer – for civilian students/trainees.
    • Incoming Future Soldier – for those individuals who have a military obligation, e.g. HPSP students.
  • Ender your date of birth, e.g. 02/22/1900, and click "Next" button.
  • Enter the correct username of your sponsor (Example: john.p.doe) and click "Next" button.  A guest must enter the AKO/DKO username of his or her sponsor to request an AKO/DKO account.
  • Enter your contact information and click "Next" button.  (Double check your entries; this must match your exact legal name.)
  • Enter an external email address (Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.) and click "Next" button.
  • Enter your organization's information and click "Next" button.
  • Set the password for your AKO account and click the "Next" button.  Your password must adhere to the guidelines listed at the top of the page.
  • Choose security questions from the scroll down and then enter the answers to them.  Your security questions are very important.  You will need to remember these answers and when performing a password reset, you will need to enter them exactly as you do when setting them up, including capitalization and punctuation.  Click "Complete Registration" button to finish and be taken to a confirmation page.
  • Print the confirmation screen for your records.
  • Your registration is now complete and your account will be active once it is approved by your sponsor.
  • For further assistance with activating your account, contact your sponsor.
