Specialty Clinic Referral Guidelines - Oncology Clinic

Specializing in all types of cancer disease in diagnosis and treatment

  • Patients served: All DEERS eligible DoD Beneficiaries, with priority to Active Duty, VA as space allows, Adult Patients only for Hem/Onc. Patients will also be prioritized based on urgency of the clinical condition.
  • Requirements to See Hematology/Oncology & Radiation Oncology:
    • A referral from the Primary Care Provider
    • Patient must hand carry pathology specimen (tissue block) and interpretation of the specimen.
    • Patient must hand carry all scans (hard copy or placed on a CD).
    • Patient must hand carry all physician clinical notes that are not in AHLTA.
    • Patient will need to be briefed and advised about the length of treatment and length of stay on island, most radiation cases will need to be on island for two months. If the patient is receiving chemotherapy only, they may be on the island between 2 to 6 months depending on the severity of their disease. If they receive both treatments, they can be here up to 8 months in total.
