We are accredited by the American College of Surgeons so you can trust that the care you receive is the most up to date evidence-based medicine. We serve all TRICARE beneficiaries throughout the Pacific Rim, utilizing a multi-disciplinary approach with other Oncologic subspecialists to provide high-quality, patient-focused care. We collaborate with the University of Hawaii Cancer Center to offer clinical trial options to our beneficiaries. Medical Oncology
The Tripler Army Medical Center Hematology & Oncology Service provides comprehensive care in the treatment and management of cancer and hematologic disorders. Oncologists have experience treating all types of cancer using a variety of treatment.
Our team includes:
- Three full-time, board-certified hematologist/oncologists
- Oncology nursing staff
- Two board-certified oncology pharmacists
- Clinical psychologist

Radiation Oncology
A radiation oncologist uses ionizing radiation and other modalities to specifically target and kill cancer cells. Radiation oncologists may also use computed tomography (CT) scans, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and hyperthermia (heat) as additional interventions to aid in treatment planning and delivery.

Surgical Oncology and Breast Cancer
The Tripler Surgical Oncology and Breast Clinic is located within the General Surgery clinic. Our primary mission is to provide state-of-the-art care for cancer patients. Our team is comprised of multiple surgeons of various subspecialties including surgical oncology, colorectal, pediatric, and gastrointestinal surgery. The surgical oncology team may be involved in the care of a variety of cancers such as:
- Breast cancer
- Melanoma

- Upper gastrointestinal malignancies

Gynecology Oncology
The Gynecology Oncology service is dedicated to the prevention and treatment of gynecologic cancers including uterine, ovarian, endometrial, cervical, vulvar, and vaginal cancers. Our team is made up of physicians, nurses, therapists, and support staff all committed to helping women navigate their diagnosis and treatment. Patients will have access to a full spectrum of cancer care administered by specialists focused on the following gynecologic cancers:

- Vaginal & Vulvar

Head and Neck Surgery
The Head & Neck Surgery department offers comprehensive care for patients with either malignant or benign tumors of the head and neck. Our staff includes two surgeons with fellowship training in advanced surgical techniques, including laryngeal preservation surgery, transoral laser microsurgery, and microvascular reconstructive surgery. We also have many ancillary staff to help take the best care of you and your loved ones.

Orthopedic Surgery
The Tripler Orthopedic Surgery department strives to deliver state of the art, timely, courteous, professional, and quality care. The Orthopedic Surgery team may be involved in treatment of cancer of the bone and soft tissue of the musculoskeletal system, including cancer that has spread to the bones from another part of the body.

Urology Surgery
A urologic oncologist is a physician with special training in diagnosing and treating cancers of the male and female urinary tract, as well as the male reproductive organs. Urologic cancers include cancers of the bladder, kidneys, prostate, penis, and testicles.
The Tripler Urology Surgery Department offers a wide range of leading-edge cancer treatments, including advanced open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgical approaches. Our team works closely with your care team to tailor treatments to your specific cancer, help reduce side effects, and address issues of sexual function.

Pediatric Oncology
The Tripler Pediatrics department strives to be the premier, trusted medical home for all pediatric patients from the time they are born until they are 26 years-old. Our mission is to end pediatric cancer by providing high quality, evidence based, state of the art healthcare while fostering an environment of safety and satisfaction that promotes education and development of our Ohana.

Genetic Counseling
Cancer can be sporadic, caused by multiple factors, or it can be inherited through families. The Tripler Genetic Counseling service works with each patient to understand how their unique, individual genetics may impact their cancer risk and their family’s cancer risk, or help to make informed decisions about treatment after a cancer diagnosis. Our team mission is to provide compassionate, dedicated, and individualized counseling to each patient and their families in the military community.
Pain management
The Tripler Interdisciplinary Pain Management Center (IPMC) is a multidisciplinary rehabilitation program for people with chronic pain. Chronic pain is defined as pain lasting longer than 3 months, no matter what the cause. Our multidisciplinary team includes a physician, nurse, and pain psychologist in order to tailor a treatment program for your unique needs.

Palliative Care
Palliative Care is specialized medical care for people with serious illness, such as cancer. Palliative Care focuses on providing relief from the symptoms and stress of illness. The primary goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family. At Tripler, Palliative Care may be consulted while a patient is hospitalized. Palliative Care providers work closely with the Oncology Department to promote patient comfort, facilitate decision-making, and provide an extra layer of support for patients and their families.
Lymphedema Rehabilitation
The Tripler lymphedema program is a specialty program that focuses on the assessment and treatment of lymphedema in the arms, legs, face, neck, chest, trunk and the genital region in order to decrease the risk of infection, improve functional ability, and to maintain or regain quality of life.

Nutrition Services
Good nutrition is important for cancer patients both during and after cancer treatment. Nutrition problems are especially likely when tumors involve the head, neck, esophagus, stomach, intestines, pancreas, or liver. For many patients, the effects of cancer treatments make it hard to eat well:
- Chemotherapy
- Hormone therapy
- Radiation therapy
- Surgery
- Immunotherapy
The Tripler Army Medical Center Outpatient Nutrition Clinic offers a broad range of services designed to deliver patient-centered healthcare to active duty service members, families, and retirees. Our Registered Dietitians provide evidence-based medical nutrition therapy, nutrition education, and counseling to assist you in modifying your diet to improve your health, fitness, and performance. The Nutrition Clinic has multiple Registered Dietitians (RDs) available at several locations, including a Board Certified Pediatric Dietitian (CSP), two Certified Diabetes Educators (CDEs), and a Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD).
