Human Animal Bond Program

Tripler’s Human Animal Bond (HAB) Program helps patients, families, visitors, and staff with the assistance of several very special dogs. The program is sponsored by the American Red Cross.

The Human Animal Bond Program uses dogs in helping patients who are recovering from physical or mental illness. Volunteers bring dogs to wards, clinics and waiting areas for visits.

All dogs are screened by Veterinary Services and must pass strict behavioral and physical qualifications to be a part of this program. All handlers also receive special training.
