Radiology Nuclear Medicine Service
Nuclear medicine helps to diagnose and treat disease by imaging organs and structures in the body. It is a safe, painless method to gain vital information, often in early disease state, that might otherwise be missed or require more extensive and costly procedures. Nearly all of the major organ systems may be imaged safely with nuclear medicine.
Radioactive materials or radiopharmaceuticals are introduced that are attracted to specific organs, bones, or tissues. This material then can be detected externally by special cameras - gamma or PET cameras. We are all dedicated to providing the highest level of care to our active duty, dependent and retiree populations. We are intensely committed to our war fighters, and will make every effort to provide timely care to our deploying Soldiers both pre and post deployment and our wounded warriors.
