The nominator wrote the following: "On May 7, 2025 I delivered my first baby and had the privilege of Christy being my nurse. From the beginning when she got me from the waiting room, she was excellent. She talked with me through my goals and wishes for my labor and birth upon my arrival to the room which made me feel honored in my care. While I didn’t have many wishes, she asked me if I’d like a midwife only or help from the OB residents. This was courteous of her to ask, as I know she didn’t necessarily have to ask that, and she advocated for me in my desire to have a midwife only birth. Christy was never rushed or pushy, she was gentle and incredibly encouraging and supportive. In fact, she made me feel like a champ, cheering me on every step of the way in my labor and delivery. Her support made me feel empowered, which was the BEST feeling especially since this was my first time giving birth and also first time as a patient in the hospital. Having her as my nurse made me feel safe and at ease. Christy talked up the other employees such as the CRNA (Cathy I think was her name) who did my epidural. Her talking up the other employees also provided confidence that I was in great hands and that assurance was awesome to both myself and my husband. After I had my baby and was Face-Timing my family, she quickly said to them how amazing I did and how proud she was of me! She seriously made me feel like a million bucks. I cannot thank her enough, I am a nurse myself and understand the busyness and stress work can provide, but she made me feel like the only patient on the floor. I am lucky to have had Christy as my nurse and I had such a positive birth experience! Thank you Christy for everything!”

A nurse in the Labor and Delivery Unit, for receiving the DAISY Award! Leclair’s compassionate care during a patient’s labor and delivery was exceptional. She expertly addressed the patient’s physical needs, and provided invaluable emotional support.

Tripler Army Medical Center achieves The Joint Commission reaccreditation through 2028

Tripler Army Medical Center — Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) has successfully earned continued accreditation from The Joint Commission following a comprehensive four-day survey conducted July 22-25, 2025. The reaccreditation extends through 2028 and encompasses TAMC, the Desmond T. Doss Health Clinic, and Warrior Ohana Medical Home.

From Pacific to Atlantic: Life-Saving Kidney Transplant Gives Military Spouse a Second Chance at Life

Tripler Army Medical Center — A U.S. Marine Corps spouse is thriving today because of a life-saving 2024 kidney transplant and collaboration between Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and Tripler Army Medical Center. The seamless coordination between the two military treatment facilities, spanning from Hawaii to Maryland, highlights a commitment to comprehensive care for military families and demonstrates the power of collaboration within the Military Health System.

Tripler Army Medical Center Change of Command

Tripler Army Medical Center — Tripler Army Medical Center welcomed a new commander during a change of command ceremony here, June 30. During the ceremony Col. Michael D. Ronn relinquished command to Col. William F. Bimson. The presiding official of the ceremony was Brig. Gen. Deydre Teyhen, commanding general, Medical Readiness Command, Pacific, and director, Defense Health Network Indo-Pacific.

The Clinical Nurses Transition Program at Tripler Army Medical Center graduated a new class of U.S. Army nurses in Kyser Auditorium on Apr. 25, 2025. Among those completing the program were 2nd Lt. Miahela Carausu, 2nd Lt. Cassidy Chaddock, 2nd Lt. Jordan DiJoseph, 2nd Lt. Maria Grant-Villacorta, 2nd Lt. Lauren Pickens and 2nd Lt. Kristina Ropiecki. Aldridge, a pediatric nurse, was nominated for the award by the mother of a patient who was diagnosed with cancer. She wrote that "Nurse Helen" showed an incredible amount of compassion to the patient and her family. Col. Rosemary Baugh, TAMC's chief nursing officer, presented the award on April 14.
