Tripler Army Medical Center — As military medical residents assigned to Tripler Army Medical Center approach their Graduate Medical Education graduation and prepare for their next assignments, they have one final hurdle: the GME Trauma Capstone. Seventy-three graduating resident physicians participated this month in this year’s Trauma Capstone, held at the Medical Simulation Training Center, Schofield Barracks.

But Gerald Raquel, a licensed practical nurse (LPN) at Tripler Army Medical Center, goes out of his way to make the experience enjoyable as possible. The emergency department LPN is frequently mentioned in positive interactive customer evaluation (ICE) comments, which are shared with senior leaders, managers and staff to help improve services at the hospital.

From the clinic to the stage: A Tripler physician performs in local theater
Tripler Army Medical Center — When U.S. Army Capt. David Samsel, a physician, is not working at Warrior Ohana Medical Home in Kapolei, he can often be found acting on a local theater stage. This year, he played Eddie McCune in the Diamond Head Theatre’s production of “The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940,” which ran Feb. 2-24. The play is a fast-paced and deliriously funny farce that takes place in an isolated mansion in the middle of a snowstorm. The characters are cut off from the outside world with only a deranged murderer, the Stage Door Slasher, for company.

Doss Health Clinic, Madigan Army Medical Center, Public Health Command Pacific, Dental Health Command Pacific, U.S. Army MEDDAC Alaska, U.S. Army MEDDAC Japan, and Brian D. Aligood Army Community Hospital Korea competed in the Best Leader Competition Apr. 1-4 at TAMC, Schofield Barracks, Wheeler Army Air Field, and Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.
