From Pacific to Atlantic: Life-Saving Kidney Transplant Gives Military Spouse a Second Chance at Life

Tripler Army Medical Center — A U.S. Marine Corps spouse is thriving today because of a life-saving 2024 kidney transplant and collaboration between Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and Tripler Army Medical Center. The seamless coordination between the two military treatment facilities, spanning from Hawaii to Maryland, highlights a commitment to comprehensive care for military families and demonstrates the power of collaboration within the Military Health System.

Tripler Army Medical Center Change of Command

Tripler Army Medical Center — Tripler Army Medical Center welcomed a new commander during a change of command ceremony here, June 30. During the ceremony Col. Michael D. Ronn relinquished command to Col. William F. Bimson. The presiding official of the ceremony was Brig. Gen. Deydre Teyhen, commanding general, Medical Readiness Command, Pacific, and director, Defense Health Network Indo-Pacific.

The Clinical Nurses Transition Program at Tripler Army Medical Center graduated a new class of U.S. Army nurses in Kyser Auditorium on Apr. 25, 2025. Among those completing the program were 2nd Lt. Miahela Carausu, 2nd Lt. Cassidy Chaddock, 2nd Lt. Jordan DiJoseph, 2nd Lt. Maria Grant-Villacorta, 2nd Lt. Lauren Pickens and 2nd Lt. Kristina Ropiecki. TRIPLER ARMY MEDICAL CENTER, Hawaii — Tripler Army Medical Center's Clinical Nurse Transition Program is an accelerated program designed to cultivate new Army nurses by transitioning them from academics to clinical practice while also developing the leadership skills and competencies necessary to excel as an Army officer.

Tripler Army Medical Center — Please join us in congratulating Staff Sgt. Jesus Hernandez, Tripler Army Medical Center’s most recent Daisy Award recipient!

Congratulations to 1st Lt. Helen Aldridge, Tripler Army Medical Center's most recent Daisy Award recipient! Aldridge, a pediatric nurse, was nominated for the award by the mother of a patient who was diagnosed with cancer. She wrote that "Nurse Helen" showed an incredible amount of compassion to the patient and her family. Col. Rosemary Baugh, TAMC's chief nursing officer, presented the award on April 14. The nominator wrote the following: "Due to the nature of my daughter’s treatment, she was often confined to the pediatric unit, which can be difficult for a child to understand. Nurse Helen made it a point to ensure she felt as comfortable as possible during her stay. She would often remind my daughter about the different toys she could use to ride around the halls, offering small but meaningful distractions. As time passed, my daughter struggled to cope with the prolonged hospital stay. It was heartbreaking to witness her withdraw, not understanding why we were still there or how long we would remain. I knew this was a normal reaction for a child in her situation, but it didn’t make it any easier to watch. What stood out most was that Nurse Helen never gave up on her. She continued to encourage my daughter to leave her room and engage with her surroundings. Nurse Helen’s unwavering compassion and dedication is something we will never forget. Her kindness made a lasting impact on my daughter, who will always remember her as someone who brightened an incredibly difficult time."

Mass casualty exercise scheduled at Tripler Army Medical Center, Desmond T. Doss Health Clinic on April 8

HONOLULU, Hawaii — Personnel from Tripler Army Medical Center and the Desmond T. Doss Health Clinic will participate in a mass casualty exercise the morning of April 8.

Tripler Army Medical Center — Tripler Army Medical Center is leading the way in training combat medics, enhancing their skills and improving their ability to provide prolonged casualty care under field conditions.

U.S. Army Soldiers from TAMC and the Desmond T. Doss Health Clinic competed for the title of Best Leader during a four-day event, running Jan. 21-24 at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. Events included an expert physical fitness assessment, a stress shoot, warrior task and battle drills, a ruck march, combat water survival training, land navigation, a 3.5 mile obstacle course run, and a mystery event.
