International Travel
One exciting aspect of our residency program is the ability to participate in missions to international locations. These missions can take several forms, from providing humanitarian assistance, to working in military research laboratories learning about tropical infectious diseases, to attending international conferences. Residents have recently traveled to places such as American Samoa, Australia, Indonesia, Korea, Thailand, Palau, the Marshall Islands, Peru, Nepal and Kenya.
Interns and residents also have the opportunity to travel to various conferences and courses. These include the Army/Air Force chapter meeting of the American College of Physicians (ACP), the national ACP meeting, the Management of Chemical and Biological Casualties Course, and the Asia-Pacific Military Medicine Conference.
Due to funding limitations, off-island rotations are considered electives and are not guaranteed. Residents may need to independently secure funding for some off-island rotations.
